Club Dalarna of Chicago Records
The records of Club Dalarna in Chicago are organized into five categories: organizational structure and history, finance, correspondence, clippings, and publications. The records are almost entirely in the Swedish language and span the dates 1917-1982.
Independent Order of Svithiod Records
The records of the Independent Order of Svithiod are organized by lodge, and include meeting minutes, constitution and bylaws, membership and financial records, correspondence, and programs. Included in this collection are records from the Svithiod Nursing Home and junior lodges.
Ingeborg Society Records
The records of the Ingeborg Society consist of one box, which contains a folder of applications for membership and a ledger of members with listings of dues. The ledger is in Swedish and contains information regarding date of birth, place of birth, United States address, and occupation of the members.
Norrlanders Society Records
The records of the Norrlanders Society, spanning the years 1935‑1963, include the history and bylaws of the organization; administrative, financial, and membership records; correspondence; the booklet Bland Norrlanningar i Chicago; and clippings regarding the activities of the Society.
Smålands-Förbundet Records
The records of Smålands-Förbundet include annual administrative reports, membership and financial, constitution and bylaws, and correspondence.
St. Ansgarius Church Records
These records consist largely of parish registers dating from 1849 through 1896, listing communicants and pastoral acts such baptisms, burials, and marriages. Also included is a pastor’s diary, circa 1882, and the church meeting minutes for 1858-1875. Photos of the church interior and of St. Ansgarius’ founder, Gustav Unonius, complement the church records. The records are largely in the Swedish language.
Swedish Cultural Society Records
The Swedish Cultural Society Records contain records for the Supreme Council, the Swedish society Riksföreningen för Svenskhetens Bevarande i Utlandet, and nation wide chapters, as well as three Illinois chapters in Oak Park, Rockford, and Chicago. Records include minutes, correspondence, and financial records.
